Environmental Management

Societies have been increasingly growing and so have environmental problems. This deadlock between growth and environmental issues is exactly the scope of the work of environmental managers. These professionals have the job of identifying and defining socio-environmental problems that exist in production processes, in the conflicts deriving from access and use of environmental resources, and in the other issues regarding the environment. Thus, they must develop techniques and knowledges so that we can rationally use natural resources and preserve biodiversity. These professionals plan, develop and execute projects that aim at preserving the environment, such as recycling and environmental education programs. Also, they analyze industrial pollution and the use of natural resources, and elaborate strategies for minimizing the impact caused by human activities. Environmental managers can work both in the public and private sectors, in urban, rural and industrial areas.
