Agronomy
An agronomist is a professional who is able to work with plant and animal source food production, and also with its transformation, marketing, technical assistance and management of all sectors linked to the production and agribusiness chain while using renewable natural resources in a sustainable way. These professionals can also work with consulting, property management, research, higher education teaching and professional education, fertilizer industries, agrochemicals, herbicides, foods, storage, agricultural machinery, irrigation and drainage, agricultural cooperatives, banks and credit cooperatives, and with technical services at federal, state and municipal levels, including environmental services and land reform. The job market for these professionals is heated not only due to the world’s growing demand for food, but also due to the characteristics of Brazil, which is a country with strong agricultural potential (around 5.3 million rural properties) and great diversity regarding agriculture and cattle raising business. The variety of its rural properties makes it necessary to develop competitive products to be inserted in the national and, mainly, the international markets.
